As it is whenever Wes Anderson debuts a new film or Christopher Guest premieres his newest foray into awesomeness, the Utah movie theater union decides to get together and suck. Once again, there is a new movie that some of us, (me) have been waiting for months to see. "Two Lovers" is not playing ANYWHERE in the state of Utah when it is released tomorrow. But alas, "Twilight" is still playing everywhere...I hate so much about who Utah chooses to be sometimes.
For those of you who don't know, "Two Lovers" stars Gwyneth Paltrow, a favorite of mine since I was in middle school, ( Who doesn't love Margot Tennenbaum or Viola De Lessup?) and Joaquin Phoenix, someone who I've been in love with since middle school. ( No 13 year old girl saw "Inventing the Abbots" and didn't fall as hard as possible for the sweet set designer who pined after Liv Tyler)(Also, no grown woman has ever watched "Quills" and not felt guilty for being horribly attracted to him dressed as a priest...I need help, clearly)
But now....Joaquin Phoenix has potentially gone of the deep end, doing what I can only hope is a hoax, where he appears to be the long lost brother of the Grizzly Adams, anxious to start his rap career and quit acting.
And so i plead this to the State of Utah.....PLEASE get it together. No one cares about Twilight.(and by no one i mean me) We've already been robbed of the new Harry Potter movie, don't take this away, too. Because for some of us, this is possibly the last time we'll get to sit in a theater and be in love with Doug Holt/Merrill Hess/Abbe/Commodus/Lucius Hunt/Jack Morrison. Some of us even own "It's all about love" simply because he looks good in a suit. So please, play this movie....so that I can sit for 2 hours and think of happier times. I can think of him the way I used to, remember him like this....

Dont worry meg, I too was dreaming of him, except on the floor on a futon with a weird hippy tapestry bedspread. I'm choosing to believe his new state of being is for a mockumentry.
What can I say...we Pierson girls just have a "thing" for the dark broody type...I think we also share a liking of Benicio Del Torro as well. And I, too hope that this is just sort of hoax thing...otherwise he's completely lost it.
Yah, and that interview with Dave Letterman was about enough to make me completed weirded out by him. And I personally think, he's lost it. Sorry lady... it's disappointing I know, but seriously... I agree with Letterman "Joaquin, I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight"
