A sad, sad, thing.

My lovely readers,

I have remained relatively quiet about the goings on in California...that is until now. I read this article, and won't keep my mouth shut any longer.

This is an appalling thing. It makes me very sad, because I do love my country. Because I am a patriot. Because I believe in equal rights for all American citizens. Because I believe in religious freedom. I do not wish to see our country regress to the days of refusing business to those who are different. I do not wish to see a minority be treated as though they are second class. I do not wish to see my church violate tax laws by siding with a political cause then instructing me as a member how to vote, and how to spend my time and money. I do not wish to see any of this. This is a very bad thing. This is a very scary thing. You have to protect everyone's freedom if you want to protect your own.

Look, I am not that kid who compares everyone who disagrees with me to Nazis, but when I read the linked article it strongly reminded me of this:

Slippery slope, people. I have enough faith in our country to believe things won't get anywhere near that bad, but let's not blow past the parallels in our haste and ignorance either.
